McLean Contributionship Grant Helps Coatesville Kids to College Open a Fully Equipped New Preschool and Improved Multi-Use Spaces.

New classrooms, furnishings, and safety upgrades give Coatesville preschoolers a high-quality place to learn and grow

COATESVILLE, Pa. — Educational Equity Alliance (EEA) is pleased to announce that a $15,000 grant from The McLean Contributionship has helped Coatesville Kids to College (CKC) fully equip its new preschool space as the program relaunches in 2026 at its new location.

The grant supported new, high-quality capital items for the preschool’s classrooms and multi-use spaces, including commercial-grade carpet, room-darkening window coverings, a student-sized electric handwashing sink, a full-sized refrigerator-freezer, a commercial ice maker, student chairs, large-motor play equipment, storage cabinets and shelving, an automated external defibrillator (AED), and wall-mounted TVs for classroom instruction, and more!

CKC’s relaunched preschool is a two-year program serving children four full days per week. Thanks to The McLean Contributionship’s investment, every classroom was outfitted with new equipment and furnishings rather than used or hand-me-down items.

“Equity in education is about more than access to a program. It is also about the quality of the places where children learn,” said Steve Wilson, Executive Director of Educational Equity Alliance. “The McLean Foundation’s generosity allowed us to create welcoming, well-equipped classrooms that meet the same high standards found in more affluent communities. Our children deserve the very best, and their learning environments should reflect their value, dignity, and potential.”

“We are deeply grateful to The McLean Contributionship for believing in this work and in the children of Coatesville,” Wilson added. “This investment helps our youngest learners engage, belong, and thrive.”
