LEADERSHIP LAB: READING THE ROOM WITH COURAGE

Description: In leadership, communication, and collaboration, the ability to read the room is a powerful skill.

Scanning is the intentional practice of observing and interpreting the signals, relationships, and dynamics present in a space before deciding how to engage. It involves paying attention not only to what is being said, but also to what is happening around the conversation—tone, body language, power dynamics, identity, and context. Reading the room isn’t about fitting in. It’s about understanding the dynamics so you can choose how to show up—with awareness, intention, and courage.

Description: This session emphasizes dignity as the foundation of ethical leadership and conflict resolution. Participants will explore strategies to communicate respectfully, even during disagreements, and will learn how to foster collaboration by embracing different perspectives. By practicing these skills, participants will gain the tools to promote unity, understanding, and ethical decision-making in diverse environments, whether in schools, workplaces, or community settings.

Description: Using the Leadership Compass, participants will examine how individual leadership styles influence equity-centered decision-making within teams and organizations. Grounded in a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) lens, this session invites reflection on identity, relational dynamics, and systems-level impact.

Learning Outcomes: Leaders will practice translating awareness of difference into strategies for more inclusive and effective collaboration.

LEADERSHIP LAB: AN INTERACTIVE REFRESHER COURSE ON THE 500 YEAR PLAYBOOK: Tools for Navigating Barriers to Educational Progress.

Description: This interactive refresher course gives a brief historical perspective on barriers to progress that have manifested in different ways over the past 500 years. To understand the past barriers is to understand the present barriers - and is to better navigate to create impact.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Participants will be refreshed on the history of systemic barriers to educational progress.

2. Demonstrate the use of practical tools and strategies to effectively navigate and overcome institutional and social obstacles in educational, workplace and community settings.

LEADERSHIP LAB: You Belong Here: Trauma-Informed Practice in Diverse Settings

Description: This session is designed to equip leaders with the tools, insights, and strategies needed to foster inclusive, supportive, and trauma-informed learning environments, and provides a deeper, more cohesive understanding of how cultural competency and trauma awareness intersect to shape student experiences and outcomes.

Topics to cover include trauma & pedagogical interactions, racialized trauma in education, language & environmental triggers, overcoming past experiences, and leader self-awareness & care
